Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking is an activity we do in the summer months, because the weather is generally dryer and therefore the ground is harder so you can get some great mountain biking done.

There are lots of rides we do straight from the centre into the Black Mountains so we don't have to drive anywhere.
We use the bridleways not footpaths (because cyclist's are not allowed to use them) and there is a real variety of rides to do.

There are some easy parts and difficult parts of the ride, so it is challenging!
You will be given a mountain bike which will be fitted to your size and a helmet and off we all go! The Black Mountains provide some of the best mountain biking in the country - with some excellent down hills!!!

Questions?

Q. Will I be fit enough?
A. The instructor will know the general level of fitness in the group, and then decide on a suitable ride so everyone will enjoy it. Riding in a group is about looking after each other, so don't worry, you won't be left behind.

Q. What are the bikes like?
A. The bikes have front suspension forks which provide enough flexibility to enable you to cope with a different types of terrain ie. Bumpy, smooth, wet ground. There are 21 gears to help you ride uphill and cope with difficult terrain.

Q. I've never ridden a mountain bike, before is it hard?
A. The instructor will teach the group how and when to change gears and make sure that the bike is the right size for you.

Q. What if I get a puncture?
A. The instructor will be carrying a repair kit and will be able to fix it for you, and then you will be able to learn how to do it too (if you don't know already!).
